Remove the protective covering from the end of the carpet base to expose 18 to 24 inches of adhesive.
Position the carpet base to a starting point and firmly press it onto the wall. Secure the end by using a rubber mallet or regular hammer to tap directly over the adhesive strip for 18 to 24 inches.
Gently stretch the carpet base as you apply it to the wall, making sure that the carpet base is meeting the carpet on the floor. Press firmly with your hands.
Secure the carpet base by rubbing the carpet firmly with the flat part of a hammer. Tapping lightly will also secure the adhesive. Use a pair of scissors or utility knife to cut the carpet base.
Install the base into inside corners with a screwdriver or linoleum knife. Outside corners will wrap around easily.
Short ends need special attention. In most situations, a small finish nail or brad will be sufficient. On concrete walls, either use a hot melt adhesive or contact cement if necessary.
For mitered ends, cut a 90-degree V starting at the bottom edge up to just below the binding.
Turn the end down 90 degrees. Remove paper backing and apply to wall surface. Trim carpet along cut line.
